About the Role
Katalyst is seeking a Head of Finance to strengthen and lead the finance function in a growing, acquisitive business. The role owns the company's financial rhythm, working directly with the CEO and leadership team, managing Katalyst's outsourced accounting and FP&A team, and coordinating with external stakeholders across Katalyst and its acquired entities.
This is a hands-on builder role requiring strong financial judgment and a practical approach to improving processes. You will lead the technical finance work with senior management and lenders, including finance strategy, reporting, compliance, integrations, and decision-support analysis.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the external finance and accounting team.
- Own the monthly close and reporting cadence across Katalyst and acquired entities, ensuring the integrity of financial statements, EBITDA bridges, cash flow, and operating KPIs.
- Own cash visibility, liquidity monitoring, and cash forecasting.
- Lead the annual budgeting and rolling forecasting process with the senior leadership team.
- Support finance workstreams for tuck-in acquisitions, from diligence and close readiness through post-close integration.
- Serve as the primary finance point of contact with key external stakeholders, including lenders, and own lender reporting, covenant compliance, and required supporting analysis.
- Build and run a disciplined planning and performance-management process alongside the senior leadership team.
- Drive continuous improvement in the quality and efficiency of accounting and reporting processes, including the adoption of AI tools and processes across the company.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Strong accounting and finance fundamentals, with the judgment to make sound decisions.
- High personal standards, attention to detail, and credibility with executives, advisers, and lenders.
- Hands-on, resourceful, coachable, highly motivated, and comfortable taking ownership and building processes where needed.
- Strong Excel and financial modeling skills, with comfort working across accounting systems and financial data.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to translate financial issues into actions for non-finance operators.
- Willingness to use, adopt, and learn AI and automation tools to improve the quality, reliability, and efficiency of finance processes across the company.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
- Audit or advisory experience at a Big Four or strong regional firm.
- MSP, IT services, PE-backed, or acquisitive services business experience.
- Experience with lender reporting, cash management, forecasts, integrations, and AI reporting tools and processes.
- PE analyst or portfolio company finance candidates are also relevant where they have demonstrated operational finance ownership.
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification is valued but not required.
