AvidXchange is a leading provider of Accounts Payable and Payment Automation for midsize companies. The company now employs nearly 900 people, making it one of the fastest-growing companies in North Carolina. It was named to “Forbes 2017 Cloud 100 List” for the second year in a row.
The rapid growth led them to build a new 200,000-square-foot, six-story building in Charlotte allowing them to consolidate its local employees in one location. While it has shuffleboard, multiple gyms and basketball courts, the stand-out feature inside the building is the cutting-edge collaboration technology.
AvidXchange turned to Katalyst, an award-winning IT integrator based in the Carolinas with passion for best of breed technology, to help create the unique and innovative vision for their technology. Katalyst was involved from the planning stages and helped implement creative ways to integrate voice, video, data, and security into a single infrastructure.
“We were looking at several different technology vendors who then steered us in the direction of local implementers and partners that we could work with. We locked in on Katalyst and determined that they were, based on all the interaction that we had with their team during scoping sections and so forth that they were clearly the best overall candidate for us to engage with,” said Jason Grosso, IT Service/ Support Manager at AvidXchange.
Katalyst follows a refined 5-step process that consistently lets them go beyond what’s expected. That process: Design, Install, Train, Support, and Manage.
“This project was a massive undertaking. It required a lot of resources that weren't just technically focused but also facilities focused as well as those who could bring together the vision that AvidXchange wanted to have,” said Parker Cains, Sales Director at Katalyst.
The project with AvidXchange included the installation of nearly two dozen Cisco Spark Boards. Spark Boards are the latest product from Cisco that allow end users to wirelessly present, whiteboard, and video or audio conference – everything you need for team collaboration. Katalyst pre-ordered 23 of the Spark Boards making it the largest pre-order in the world for this new product.
“Being able to collaborate in ways where we can see folks eye to eye, understand body language, or share things that we’ve prepared in presentations or actually hold up is really important to us. The Katalyst team has been amazing to work with. Highly knowledgeable, experienced, and also creative. We were really exploring a few different ways to make the entry areas show stopping. And the team came up with some unexpected, creative ideas and concepts that really made us value them as a partner,” said Red Maxwell, Chief Marketing Officer at AvidXchange.
The way that Katalyst approached this project enabled them to learn a lot about how end users interact with this new technology. This knowledge now allows them to replicate this whether it’s 1 Spark Board or hundreds of them at different locations across the globe.
“The Katalyst team was with us through the entire scope of the process. All the way from the very beginning to the end - and then post go-live support of that technology so they’ve been a phenomenal partner of ours,” said Grosso.
