IT Project Manager  

Summary of Position:

The IT project manager is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating client projects according to predetermined timelines and budgets. Building and managing project teams, reporting to the project sponsor, and ensuring quality control throughout the project lifecycle.  

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manage project development from initiation to closure

  • Be accountable for project results along with project sponsor

  • Work with project sponsor and stakeholders to complete project plan outlining scope, goals, deliverables, required resources, communication plan, budget and timing

  • Complete work breakdown structure to estimate effort required for each task

  • Provide a project schedule to identify when each task will be performed

  • Clearly communicate expectations to team members and stakeholders

  • Act as a mediator between stakeholders and team members

  • Resolve any issues and solve problems throughout the project life cycle 

  • Effectively manage project scope by ensuring any changes to scope are documented and approved per change control process

  • Determine if external consultants or contractors will be required to complete project. If required, help recruit and manage appropriate staffing resources

  • Track and report on project milestones and provide status reports to stakeholders

  • Lead, coach, and motivate project team members on proactive basis

  • Determine how results will be measured and complete a post project evaluation to determine how well results were achieved

  • Develop tools and best practices for Project Management Office

  • Ensure all project documents are safely and securely archived following project completion

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 4-year College degree

  • Minimum 3 years work experience in IT project management

  • Experience with industry-standard project management tools and/or software packages

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Xcel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, SharePoint)

  • Experience working in a team oriented, collaborative environment

  • Demonstrated leadership managing teams

  • Demonstrated strategic, operational, and technical skills

  • Rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities

  • Previous IT Infrastructure technology experience preferred (i.e. Cisco, EMC, NetApp, Microsoft, VMware, Citrix etc.)

  • PMI certifications are a plus (PMP, CAPM, etc.)

 

Experience:

  • Mid-Senior Level
